Research Advisor

Prof. Dr. Saad Mekhilef

Prof. Dr. Saad Mekhilef is an IEEE and IET Fellow. He is a Distinguished Professor at the School of Science, Computing and Engineering Technologies, Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, and an Honorary Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Malaya. He authored and co-authored more than 500 publications in academic journals and proceedings and five books with more than 35,000 citations, and more than 70 Ph.D. students graduated under his supervision. He serves as an editorial board member for many top journals such as IEEE Transaction on Power Electronics, IEEE Open Journal of Industrial Electronics, IET Renewable Power Generation, Journal of Power Electronics, and International Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications.  

Prof. Mekhilef has been listed by Thomson Reuters (Clarivate Analytics) as one of the Highly Cited (World's Top 1%) engineering researchers in the world in 2018,2019, 2020, and 2021. He is actively involved in industrial consultancy for major corporations in the Power Electronics and Renewable Energy projects. His research interests include Power Conversion Techniques, Control of Power Converters, Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT), Renewable Energy, and Energy Efficiency.

Associate Prof. Dr. Marizan Binti Mubin

Associate Prof. Dr. Marizan Binti Mubin completed her D.Eng. from Tokai University, Tokyo, Japan in 2006. She did her M.Sc. from Newcastle University, UK in 2001 and B.Eng. (Hons.) from University of Malaya, Malaysia respectively. She joined University of Malaya in 2007 and since then, she is associated with University of Malaya, Malaysia in different administrative, teaching and research roles.

Her research interests include application of control system in power electronics, and power system and energy management. Dr. Marizan Binti Mubin is actively involved as Principal Investigator is numerous government-funded industrial research projects. She has supervised numerous Ph.D. and M.Tech. theses and is currently supervising several graduate research students.

Dr. Tey Kok Soon

Dr. Tey Kok Soon received his B. Eng degree in Electrical Engineering and PhD degree from the University of Malaya, Malaysia, in 2011 and 2014 respectively. Since 2011, he has been a Research Assistant with the Power Electronics and Renewable Energy Research Laboratory (PEARL), Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Malaya. In 2015, he joined Department of Computer System and Information Technology, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT) as a Senior Lecturer, and now he is working here as an Associate Professor. His research interests include renewable energy control system, energy management, power efficiency of PV system and inverter control of PV system. He has supervised several Individual and collaborated research projects.
